Trip Overview

Tsetang Samye Everest Tour is one of the popular tour packages to visitors. You will visit Yumbu Lhakang, the first castle of Tibet and Traduk temple. Samye monastery which is the first Tibetan monastery, built in 8th century by the 38th Tibetan King. Visiting Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet and the great Potala Palace, Jokang temple, Drepung and Sera monasteries which are the largest Tibetan Buddhist schools.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon your arrival at Kathmandu Airport, we will come to pickup you and drop you to your booked hotel by our private tourist van.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing
This is your free day in Kathmandu. After having lunch, you will visit some of the UNESCO world heritage sites.

Day 03: Visa preparation day
For tibet, you will need visa so you will have a visa in your hand today and we will give a briefeings about your Tibet tour.

Day 04: Fly to Lhasa Gongkar airport and transfer to Tsetang.(3600Mts/ 100Km ) Hotel on B.B
After breakfast, we will drive you to the airport and you will fly to Lhasa. After reaching Lhasa Gongar airport, You will be warmly welcomed by our Tibetan guide and driver and accompany you to the Tsetang along with the view of Bharmaputra.

Day 05: Sightseeing tour in Tsetang, Yumbu Lhakang, Traduk temple and the Kings’ Tombs. Hotel on B.B
After Breakfast, you will  drive to Yumbu Lhakang. Nowadays, the castle is transformed into a small chapel with a few monks. The chapel is dedicated to the statues of some of the most famous Tibetan kings including Sonagtsan Gampo.

After the sightseeing to Yumbu Lhakang, we will drive back on the same valley down and visit Traduk temple on the way. Tranduk is one of the oldest temples built by kingSongtsanGampo in 7th century. After Traduk, you will have lunch and have some rest in the hotel. Afternoon, drive to Kings’ Toms through the valley of Chonggye.

Day 06: Drive from Tsetang-Samye monastery-Lhasa.(3650Mts/ 160Km ) Hotel on B.B
Early Morning, drive along the YarlungTsangpo river where it joins the Bharmaputra river at Chushurbridge. On the way, we will visit Samye monastery. Samye is the first monastery of Tibet and it is the mother monastery of the Nyingmapaschool or red hat sect. After lunch, we will drive to Lhasa.

Day 07:Sight seeing Lhasa, Potala Palace, Jokang temple and Bharkor. Hotel on B.B
After Breakfast, you will drive towards Potala palace. Leave the car behind and must be ready and take your challenge to climb more than hundred steps of the Potala Palace.  After the sightseeing of the Potala Palace, walk around the Potala Palace with pilgrimages and you can experience the ancient tradition of Tibetans, walking around Potala, praying matras. The Kora takes you around 40 minutes. It is also good to acclimatize to the high altitude.

After lunch, you will visit Jokang temple. Jokang temple is the oldest temple of Tibet which was built by King Songtsan Gampo in the 7th century and it is housed to the most sacred statue of BhudhaShakyamuni brought from mainland China by the princess Wangchen of the Tang court. Walking around the Bharkor is another interesting thing during your tour in lhasa. 

Day 08:Sightseeing Lhasa, Pabongka, Chubsang nunnery and Sera monastery. Hotel on B.B
You will explore Pabongka Monastery; hike downhill to Chupsang Nunnery; walk to Sera Monastery, where we have a picnic lunch; depending on availability, make your own prayer flag at Sera’s printing center and witness monks debate age-old scripts in the courtyard.

Day 09: Drive from Lhasa to Shigatse. (3900mts/ 350Km ) Hotel on B.B

On the way, you will have a sightseeing of Palchoe monastery and Kubum Pagoda stupa. After the sightseeing, you will have your lunch and then continue your journey to Shigatse.

Day 10: Drive from Shigatse to new Dingri via Sakya monastery, known as Shegar(4050Mts/ 290KM ) Guest house on B.B

Morning visit Tashi Lhunpo monastery and the old market of Shigatse and drive through two big mountain passes, Tsola 4500Mts/ Gyatso la 5220Mts and some beautiful villages and the first view of Mount Everest from the foot of Gyatso la pass. 

Day 11: Drive from Shegar to Rongbuk monastery. ( 5000Mts/ 100Km) Guest house on B.B
You will start your tour at 9Am and drive through Pangla pass 5000Mts from which you will have a fantastic view of Mount Everest, Lhotse and Makalu respectively which are over 8000Mts. After your lunch in Rongbuk monastery, you will visit the world's highest monastery, Rongbuk. When the sun sets, you will have a fantastic view of Mount Everest in the red colored sun shade.

Day 12: Two hrs trek from Rongbuk to Everest Base camp (5200Mts/ 8Km ) and then drive to Old Dingri, 4350Mts/70KM  


On the way you can visit a miraculous cave of Mila Repa. After two hrs trek, you get to the Everest base camp. It is the best point of enjoying the world's highest mountain.  You will drive through a rough road for 70Km until you get to the friendship high way where Old Dingri is located. Old Dingri is one of the popular places to stop a night in order to view mount Everest for tourists especially for those who are unable to go to Mount Everest because of altitude problem.

Day 13: Drive to Friendship bridge( 8 Km ) and then continue to Ktm. (1300Mts/ 310Km)

You will drive through Lalung la pass and Thongla pass which are over 5000Mts. From the top of those places, you will say final good bye to the beautiful Himalayan range including Shisha Bangma mountain which is also over 8000Mts and popular to the mountain climbers. Walk across Friendship Bridge , meet by our representative from Nepal , clear immigration procedure and obtain your Nepali visa & transfer to Kathmandu . Driving up and down in the forested mountain with beautiful villages on the slops of the both side mountains.

Day 14: Departure
We will drop you to the airport 3 hours before your flight time and wave you goodbye.

1. When is the best time to visit Tibet?

The best time to visit Tibet is from April to end of october.

2. What currency do I have to use in Tibet?

Currency in Tibet is Renminbi (RMB). Foreign currencies cannot be used directly. Foreign currencies may be converted into RMB at all banks, bank branches or hotels at the exchange rate quoted on the foreign exchange marker on the day.

3. What credit cards are accepted in Tibet?

Most of the internationally accepted credit cards are usable in Lhasa. They include: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diner's club, and the JCB card of Japan. Credit cards are accepted only in large shopping stores. Credit card symbols are displayed in the visible place in shops and hotels indicating credit cards are accepted.

4. What methods of payment do you accept?

B. Travel Document:

1. What documents do I need if I am planning to travel to Tibet?

You need to have at least six months valid passport, a valid China visa (if you are coming from mainland china) Tibet group visa (if you are coming from Katmandu we will do in Kathmandu) and a Tibet travel permit.

2. Do I need Visa for China?

If you are travelling to Tibet from mainland china then you need a valid Chinese visa which you can obtain at Chinese embassy in your home town

3. Do I need double/multi-entry visa if I come to Tibet from China mainland and return China mainland after the trip?

No, because Tibet is a part of China, if enter Tibet from other cities in China mainland and after the trip in Tibet, get back to China mainland again, only a single entry visa is required.

4. Do I need any special requirements on Tibet visa while coming from Kathmandu?

Before you are coming to Lhasa from Katmandu, you must get Tibet group visa from Katmandu because no matter you've already got the visa in your country or not, you must get a visa in Katmandu.

5. What's the procedure to get Tibet group visa in Katmandu?

Step 1: After you book the tour with us, provide us your copy of passport.

Step 2: We will apply the 'Visa Invitation Letter' from Tibet Tourism Bureau with your copy of passport and send it Kathmandu.

Step 3: After your arrival in Katmandu, we will ask your original passport, and then we go to the Chinese Embassy to apply the Tibet group visa. With the 'Visa Invitation Letter', you can get your Tibet group visa easily. Normally, it will take 3 working days.

6. Can I get the Tibet Travel Permit easily?

You can get the Tibet Travel Permit easily through a travel agency except diplomats, journalists, and government officials who should travel to Tibet under the arrangement by the Foreign Affairs Office of Tibet Government.

7. When do I need to apply for the Tibet travel Permit?

You need to apply for the travel permit at least 30 days prior to your entry date.

1. What are the hotels like in Tibet?

Hotels in small cities and the Everest Base Camp are very simple.

2. Does the hotel room have access to internet?

Tibet large and deluxe hotels usually provide wireless access to internet for guest rooms. But there are still some hotel rooms, not all, in Lhasa and rest Tibetan cities don’t have access to internet, so you should inquiry yourguide for internet access hotels.

3. is there 24-hour hot water running?

24 - Hour hot water supply depends on different hotels and hostels where you can check first, do some preparation or choose an available one in major cities like Lhasa, Shigatse and Gyantse. But it’s hard to find perfect one in remote and harsh places.

4. What can I eat in Tibet?

Tibet owns its distinctive Tibetan food, like Tsampa,Tibetan Noodle, Momo, Milk Curd, Yogurt and local dishes. Transportation:

1. What vehicle do you use in Tibet?

If your arranged tour is mainly in downtown Lhasa, you can easily get to Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street or nearby attractions at short distance by walking or taking a local rickshaw. If you want to tour around Lhasa, we suggest you to use minivan as the road condition around Lhasa is pretty good, and the minivan cost less as well.

Safety & Health

1. What medicines should prepare before coming to Tibet?

Here are the lists of medicine:

2. What to do, if started symptoms of High altitude sickness?

Get adequate rest and drink lots of water, Administrating oxygen can help if the symptoms are worsening. The real treatment for acute high altitude sickness is descending down to lower altitude as soon as possible. If the patient doesn’t show any improvement in 3 to 4 hours.  patient should go to hospital for proper treatment. High altitude sickness can be deadly if it is not treated accordingly.

3. Who should avoid visiting Places of higher altitude?
