9 Days Tibet Everest Base Camp Tour

Trip Overview

Tibet Everest Base Camp Tour is a complete tour package that covers the major attractions of Lhasa and Central Tibet and once in a lifetime experience of Everest Base Camp. The tour is designed with Kathmandu – Lhasa fly in and overland drive out to Kathmandu back. Witness Buddhist prayer ceremonies, visit the homes of local Tibetans and observe religious customs to give you and insight into the Tibetan life and religious practices. After visiting the palaces and monasteries of Lhasa, Gyantse and Shigatse overland drive to the famous Rongphu Monastery and day-hike to North Everest Base camp from where the views of the North Face of Mt. Everest is awesome. You will be thrilled by the breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks and Tibetan countryside. Afterwards, we drive back to Kathmandu through overland drive.

Day 01 Kathmandu – Lhasa (3,650m): 
Day 02-03 in Lhasa: Two Full Days Sightseeing Tour In Lhasa
Day 05 Gyantse – Xigatse (3,900m): 90km
Day 06 Xigatse – Xegar (4,100m): 270km
Day 07 Xegar – Ronbuk (4,980m): Aprox 90km
Day 08 Ronbuk – Everest BC – Kerung  (2,800m) 370 km
Day 09 Kerung – Kathmandu:165 km.
 

Itinerary

Day 01 Kathmandu – Lhasa (3,650m): 
Pick you up from Lhasa airport or Train station – Full rest for acclimatization – O/N at Hotel.

Day 02-03 in Lhasa: Two Full Days Sightseeing Tour In LhasaVisit Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Bazaar, Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery – O/N at Hotel.

Day 04 Lhasa  – Gyantse (3950m) 250 Km
Drive to Gyantse via Yamadroke Lake and high passes: Kora LA (5,010m) & Kamba La (4,794m) – Hotel.

Day 05 Gyantse – Xigatse (3,900m): 90km
AM: Sight-seeing in Gyantse including Pholkor & Kumbum Monastery. PM: scenic drive to Xigatse (1.5hrs) through the typical Tibetan Countryside- Hotel.

Day 06 Xigatse – Xegar (4,100m): 270km
AM: Visit Panchen Lama’s Tashilhumpu Monastery. Then Drive to Xegar via Shakya Monastery crossing over Gyatchula (a pass of 5,200m) – O/N at Guest House.

Day 07 Xegar – Ronbuk (4,980m): Aprox 90km
Scenic drive to Ronbuk through the beautiful Tibetan countryside. Explore Ronbuk Monastery (highest monastery in the world) – O/N at Guest House.

Day 08 Ronbuk – Everest BC – Kerung  (2,800m) 370 km
Rent a horse cart or walk to the Everest BC and explore around – back to Ronbuk – Drive back to Tingri and further to Kerung  by over-crossing the high pass of lulang La (5,050m) from where one can enjoy the magnificent view of the Mt. Xishapagma (8,212m) & Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201m) and have overnight at Kerung  Guest House. 

Day 09 Kerung – Kathmandu:165 km.
after necessary border formalities continue scenic drive to Kathmandu through the green lush countryside- transfer to your Hotel. End of tour.

FAQ

When do I do the final payment?
The final payment must be done before the start of the trek  after arriving in Kathmandu.

What happens if I have to cancel or postpone my booked trip?
On cancellation, depending on time duration before the cancellation of the trip, cancellation charge will be charged. A trip can be postponed only up to 6 months at maximum.

Can I customize trips to make them suit me?
We always try to be flexible with our trips for our client’s convenience. 

Before a trek:
What do I need to bring for the trek?
On confirmation of a trek, full lists of required gears would be sent to you or please view our Gear List section on website.

What kind of insurances do I need?
Proper travel insurance is necessary before confirming a trek. At times of emergency cases like evacuation, it will cover your expenses. Make sure to consult with your insurance company about the coverage of the insurance that you have bought.

How do I prepare myself for the physical requirement of the trek?
An average physical fitness should be maintained on prior of booking a trek. Any sort of illness or recent medical problems should be mentioned while booking a trip. Most of our itineraries are prepared to give you a maximum time to acclimatize and pace setting on the treks would be done according to your convenience.

How long will be an average day on the trek?
On average, a day on a trek would be 5-6 hours long. The longest day can be up to 10 hours and 3 hours is the shortest day. It all depends on the region that your are trekking.

How safe are the treks?
Our main objective is your safety. Safety is never compromised and all our guides are properly trained and equipped to take care clients safety in even the wildest region of the country.

On a trek:
How are the food and the logistics on the trek?
All the lodges used on the treks are frequently used and trusted by our company. We take our clients review very seriously and never repeat any lodges with complaints on their food.

How is the standard of the lodges that we use on treks?
Most of the lodges in the mountains are quite basic. On few major towns or settlements, when possible we provide the best lodges possible. There are luxury lodges but it’s not included on the standard treks.

How much luggage is allowed on treks?
The luggage must not exceed 20 kilos. A trekking helper carries a baggage of less than 15 kilos. This bag can be received at the end of each day’s trek and you should carry the rest of the weight as a day bag with all your money and valuables inside it.
